The grapes for 2006 DeChaunac were harvested in late October on the lower slopes of the south-facing Gaspereau Vineyards.  This bright violet-coloured wine displays a nose rich in sweet cherry complimented by delicate overtones of both vanilla and cigar.  Soft tannins and a balanced acidity round out the palate creating this medium bodied gem.  Pairs well with tomato based pasta dishes, beef dishes, herbaceous cheeses.

2004/06 Vitis (Dry)      $21.99 750ml
Silver Medal –  2008 Canadian Wine Competition

Vitis, the latin word for vine, is the fitting name we have chosen for our Gaspereau Vineyards’ Premium Blend.  The finest Lucie Kuhlmann, DeChaunac and Baco Noir grapes from 2004 and 2005 were blended together to produce this hand-crafted masterpiece.  Vitis displays a deep, intense  burgundy color and a predominately raspberry/cranberry nose with nuances of mocha and chocolate.  Pairs well hearty red meat and pasta dishes.

2007 Castel (Dry)  $19.99   750ml
Silver – 2009 International Tasters Guild Competition

2007’s growing season provided beautiful ripening conditions for the Castel grapes.  The extremely deep-pigmented Castel was harvested from the Warner vineyard in early October with very high natural sugar and robust flavour. This unoaked red wine has rich aromas of spiced plum and blackberry supported by floral and herbaceous notes. A spicy finish follows a smooth and silky mouthfeel. Enjoy this wine with tomato-based dishes, mushroom risotto or other Italian fare.

2006 Lucie Kuhlmann (Dry)  $21.99   750ml
Silver - 2008 International Tasters Guild Competition

Lucie Kuhlmann 2006 displays an intense burgundy color with an equally intense nose of mocha, smoky cherry and raspberry aromas.  A medium tannin level and nice acidiltiy balance out the palate and help to contribute to this dry wine’s long finish.  Lucie Kuhlmann 2006 is a great food wine and would compliment Spanish tapas or Italian dishes wonderfully.  Lucie Kuhlmann is also quite delicious with lamb, red meat and venison.

Reserve Port (Medium)  $19.99   500ml
Gold - 2008 All-Canadian Wine Competiton

This non-vintage, port-styled wine is reminiscent of cranberry, raspberry and plum preserves.  A velvety finish of butterscotch and maple toffee makes this wine a perfect complement to a relaxing evening, dark chocolate truffles or blue cheeses.  Easy to enjoy and difficult to share…….

Maple Wine (Sweet)   $14.99 200ml

Maple syrup, the popular delicacy harvested from our Nova Scotia maple forests, was used to make this smooth, rich maple wine.  Fortified with wine brandy made from one of Nova Scotia’s signature grape varieties, L’Acadie, this truly is a Nova Scotia treat.  The combination of rich maple flavour and clean, aromatic L’Acadie brandy makes this dessert wine unforgettable.  Maple wine is a wonderful treat on it own but goes equally well with dessert.

2008 L’Acadie Blanc (Dry) $15.99    750ml

A true Nova Scotia delight, this perfectly balanced wine has a bouquet of pineapple and citrus.  The sweet tropical fruit and gooseberry finish makes this wine a perfect complement to Nova Scotia scallops, shrimp kabobs and gazpacho soup.  A Silver Medal winner at the Tasters Guild
International Competition, this wine is meant for Nova Scotia cuisine.

2008 Muscat (Dry)        $19.99    750ml

A wine of prestige for Nova Scotia, it is a delight for all senses.  Nova Scotia's most aromatic grape variety was used to make this slightly pink in colour wine.  The nose shows intense tropical fruit aromas of lychee fruit, passion fruit and hints of pink grapefruit and rose.  Despite the illusion of sweetness displayed on the nose, this wine finishes dry with a long grapefuit finish.  Muscat is the perfect partner with crab cakes, curry dishes, and shellfish or steam mussels/lobster with Muscat - a truly Nova Scotian Culinary Delight!

2008 Seyval Blanc (Medium)  $16.99     750ml
We have nicknamed this wine "Dangerously Drinkable" because it goes down so smooth and easy!

The 2008 Seyval Blanc is a well balanced semi-dry white wine.  An elegant bouquet of peaches and pears foretells the silky flavour of honeyed citrus fruit.  Many cheeses, fresh salads and mild chicken dishes will pair well with this wine.

2007 Rose (Medium)  $15.99   750ml
Gold - 2008 Tasters Guild International Competition

Made from the free run of Nova Scotian DeChaunac and Lucie Kuhlmann grapes, this Rose is salmon- pink in colour with notes of cranberry and cherry on the nose. This 2008 sparkling wine is the first sparkling wine produced at Gaspereau Vineyards. The balance of aromatics, sweetness and sparkle make this wine perfect as an aperitif for any meal or to celebrate a memorable event. An expressive nose of apple with a hint of lychee fruit suggests this wine's blend of 2008 Vidal and the aromatic Muscat.

2007 Vidal Ortega Icewine (Sweet)  $29.99   200ml   -     $49.99   375ml
Gold Medal Winner - 2008 International Taster's Guild Competition

2008 Chardonnay (Dry)    $19.99 500 ml

In the north western section of Gaspereau Vineyards, on the upper slope, is a modest planting of Chardonnay. In 2008, the first year the grapes were processed on site, the Chardonnay grapes were hand-harvested on the 3rd of November, cold soaked overnight and pressed. A complete malolactic fermentation followed a cool primary fermentation, both in stainless steel, to allow the elegant Chardonnay flavours to prevail. No oak was used on this wine. Lemon crème brûlée and apple aromas dominate the nose and complement the slightly buttery yet refreshing finish.

2007 Pinot Noir (Dry)   $19.99    500ml

Pinot Noir has been growing in Nova Scotia at Al McIntyre’s Racca Vineyard near Canning, Nova Scotia since 2001 and is the source of grapes for this, Gaspereau Vineyards’ first, Pinot Noir.  Harvested in early November 2007, the grapes were hand-harvested and sorted, cold soaked prior to fermentation and cool-fermented.  Malolactic fermentation followed.  Aged in a combination of New Hungarian Oak, older French Oak and stainless steel, this wine shows the classic Pinot Noir aromas and is supported by smoky vanilla undertone.  A light cherry hue with an elegant structure makes this classic cool climate Pinot Noir a natural food friendly wine.

2008 Muscat Chardonnay Limited Edition (Dry)  $17.99   500 ml

New York Muscat, Nova Scotia’s most aromatic grape variety, and Gaspereau-grown Chardonnay were combined to produce this limited edition wine. With a light sparkle and hint of sweetness to accompany the Muscat-influenced aromatics, this wine is perfect for many occasions. The Muscat Chardonnay can be enjoyed as an aperitif prior to a meal, and is a perfect match for various local cheeses and intensely-flavoured foods such as shellfish and Asian cuisine.
